- 2023 Yamaha MT125 unveiled
- Gets TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity
- Unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon
Yamaha has bestowed its smallest MT offering, the MT125, with some enticing updates for 2023 in the European market. The updates come in the form of a couple of first-in-class features.
The main highlight of the 2023 MT125 is the inclusion of a traction control system which is a rarity in this class. Although TC is not of much use for a bike with such a small displacement, it surely brings along certain bragging rights. Another major, and useful, update is the introduction of a five-inch TFT console which, again, is an uncommon feature on a 125cc motorcycle. Moreover, this TFT dash gets Bluetooth connectivity and shows call and message notifications of the paired smartphone.
Yamaha has left all the other aspects of the MT125 untouched. It continues to be powered by a 124cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 15bhp at 9,000rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The cycle parts are as impressive as its engine with the package comprising upside-down forks, a monoshock, and a single disc brake at both ends. Yamaha also offers a bunch of swanky colours for the MT125. These shades nicely complement its design which is identical to the MT 15 V2.
The 2023 Yamaha MT125 has a direct rival in the form of the KTM 125 Duke which is available in the Indian markets. Now, whether Yamaha ever brings the MT125 to India remains to be seen.
