The last week was majorly about the upcoming launches and looking at the line-up, it seems that this month will be an interesting one. Bikemakers such as Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp have some exciting products hidden behind the curtains and we just can’t wait to see them. Here’s everything from the last week that grabbed our attention the most.
2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and SF 150 details leaked
Suzuki is gearing up to host one of the biggest launches of this year on 20 May. We received leaked pictures and details of two motorcycles recently which signified what the bikemaker has in store for us. While one of them is the 2019 model of the Gixxer 150 SF, the other is a new quarter-litre sportsbike which will go by the name Gixxer 250 SF. 2019 Hero Pleasure and Maestro Edge 125 launch on 13 May
Besides Suzuki, Hero is also ready to launch two new products on 13 May. The bikemaker is all set to introduce the 2019 Pleasure along with the 125cc iteration of the Maestro Edge. While the former was spotted during a shoot of a TV commercial, the latter was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Pleasure will get several updates over the outgoing model while the Maestro Edge 125 is a new product which will be positioned above the Destini 125. Both the offerings will bring a wave of freshness in the manufacturer’s scooter line-up.
2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC launch on 23 May
Triumph is all set to bring in the Scrambler 1200 XC in India which is the elder sibling of the Street Scrambler. Scheduled to be launched on 23 May, the motorcycle is powered by Triumph’s 1200cc, parallel-twin motor which makes 90bhp and 110Nm. Moreover, it comes loaded to the brim with modern features. TVS Ntorq 125 drum brake variant launched
TVS has launched the more affordable variant of its 125cc scooter, the Ntorq 125 with drum brakes. The scooter is priced at Rs 58,252 which makes it Rs 1600 cheaper than the disc brake model. Apart from the addition of drum brake at the front, the scooter remains the same in all aspects. In India, it competes against the Aprilia SR125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and the Honda Grazia.
Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS officially launched
Bajaj has officially launched its new cruiser, the Avenger Street 160 ABS in India. Priced at Rs 82,253, the bike is a replacement for the soon-to-be-discontinued Avenger 180. The Avenger 160 ABS shares most of its underpinnings with the latter except for the engine. Powering the bike is a 160.4cc, air-cooled mill which churns out 14.8bhp and 13.5Nm and it comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Bajaj has launched the cruiser in two colour options including ebony black and spicy red.
Ather 450 price slashed by Rs 5000 after FAME-II approval
Ather Energy announced last week that its flagship model, the Ather 450 has received FAME-II approval which has made the electric scooter eligible for an increased subsidy of Rs 27,000. Following this, the price of the Ather 450 has been reduced by Rs 5,000 bringing its on road cost down to Rs 1.23 lakhs. Although Ather currently has its presence only in Bangalore, the company will start operations in Chennai in June.
