- Zero FXE EV spotted in Bengaluru
- Being tested by the Hero R&D team
- Zero joined hands with Hero MotoCorp
Zero Motorcycles – an electric motorcycle company from the US is looking to launch a few electric bikes in India. The EV maker has joined hands with Hero MotoCorp to develop and launch new bikes in India.
The bike that was spotted testing in Bengaluru is a Zero FE – a street bike that has good performance and riding range figure. The prototype was running the ‘KA-01’ test number plate. This is because Hero MotoCorp has a big team that focuses on EV staffed in Bengaluru. A lot of planning and development for Vida e-scooters also takes place in the Bengaluru office.
Zero FXE has a top speed of 136kmph and has a claimed riding range of close to 170kmph on a single charge. The 7.2kWh battery pack is quite big and as a result, a lot more riding range can be extracted from this motorcycle. The FXE has been known for its fun and agile nature, and also for its premium positioning. In the US, the FXE is priced at over Rs 10 lakh, making it one of the most expensive EVs in the world.
For the Indian market, Hero MotoCorp will likely launch cheaper variants of the Zero bikes. For example, it may not give it the biggest battery pack and also reduce the number of features. But if Hero MotoCorp plans to fully manufacture Zero bikes in India, then there’s a high chance to see fully-loaded Zero EVs at an accessible price.
