- California-based Zero Motorcycles unveils the SR/S fully-faired electric bike
- It has a claimed range of 321kms and up to 200kmph top speed
- Produces around 110bhp and 190Nm
We saw a plethora of electric two-wheeler manufacturers at the Auto Expo in Delhi who will be introducing products meant for daily commute and last mile connectivity. And then there’s California-based Zero Motorcycles which has recently unveiled a power-packed fully-faired electric motorcycle, the SR/S, which can achieve a top speed of as much as 200kmph!
The SR/S is based on the same platform as its naked sibling, the SR/F, which Zero had introduced last year. Both bikes share the same ZF75-10 electric motor and ZF14.4kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery pack is capable of delivering a range of up to 321kms (Yes! you read that right!) while 95 per cent charging is achieved in about an hour through a rapid-charging kit available as an option.
Talking about its performance figures, the SR/S makes around 110bhp of power and 190Nm of torque and comes with a whole lot of 14 riding modes (Rain, Eco, Sport, Street and 10 customisable riding modes). The electronics package of the motorcycle also incorporates Bosch’s stability control, cornering ABS and a Bluetooth-enabled digital display which connects with the smartphone to show various ride statistics and receive over-the-air updates.
Despite featuring a sporty fully-faired design, the SR/S is more focused on comfort as compared to its naked sibling. It gets an easier-to-reach handlebar, lower footpegs and a tall windscreen for windblast protection. The company also claims that the aerodynamic fairing design assists in delivering better range than the SR/F on the highway owing to lower wind resistance.
In the US, Zero Motorcycles has started shipping the SR/S to the dealers. It is available in standard and premium variants which are priced at $19,995 (Rs 14.34 lakhs) and $21.995 (Rs 15.77 lakhs). At present, there’s no information about Zero’s plans of entering in the Indian market but expect it to come to our shores sometime in the future.
