- Zontes ZT125-M maxi-scooter unveiled
- Makes power similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155
The China-based two-wheeler manufacturer Zontes has unveiled a new small-size maxi-scooter, the ZT125-M, for select European markets. Considering its body style and displacement, the scooter competes against the likes of the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 that’s sold in India.
Zontes ZT125-M Design
The styling of the ZT125-M is quite futuristic and radical with a front section that resembles the fascia of a bug. It gets sleek LED DRLs sitting on top of the faux air intakes that are flanked by sharp and protruding sides of the apron. Typical of a maxi-scooter, it gets a tall windscreen along with a wide handlebar. Also, there’s a centre spine that blends with the long tail section accompanied by a chunky, single-piece grab rail. In a nutshell, the ZT125-M looks pretty imposing and dramatic for a 125cc scooter.
Zontes ZT125-M Features
As fancy as is the styling of the ZT125-M, the list of features it incorporates is equally fascinating. Firstly, the braking setup is coupled with dual-channel ABS that’s sourced from Bosch. And all the information is displayed on a large colour TFT screen which shows data in quite an animated layout. Further, completing the list is a keyless ignition system, two USB charging ports, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Zontes ZT125-M Engine and Hardware Specifications
Powering the scooter is a 125cc, single-cylinder motor with a modern SOHC and liquid-cooled setup. Although the displacement is similar to the Burgman Street 125, the power figure is closer to the bigger Yamaha Aerox 155 at 14.5bhp. However, it’s also worth noting that the kerb weight is pretty heavy at 166kg.
Coming to the cycle parts, the ZT125-M rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels, similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and dual springs at the rear along with a single disc brake at both ends. Further, the fuel tank capacity of the maxi-scooter stands at 12-litre which should deliver a decent riding range.
Zontes ZT125-M Pricing and India launch
In the European markets, Zontes has priced the ZT125-M a bit exorbitantly at £3,649 which approximately converts to Rs 3.62 lakh. As for its India entry, it can’t be completely ruled out because Zontes already sells four motorcycles on our shores. The company which handles its India operations, Adhishwar Group, already retails the premium 300cc Keeway scooters in India. Hence, it might bring in the ZT125-M also in the future.
