I have been using since 2+ years it's an awesome machine for both off road and on road. On road you will feel the heat but negligible. Seat comfort is the best. Pillion rider has the best comfortable seats compared to other bikes in this segments.Off roading on hill areas on this bike is just like crazy , very smooth . Ride control is amazing. My bike slips on river bank roads may be this happens due to non abs.Overall it's good bike. Go for it !!!

  • The himalayan is easily the most anticipated motorcycle from royal enfield given its positioning as an adventure touring motorcycle.

    Get Road

The seat is nicely scooped for the rider and is very comfortable – I was almost surprised at how comfortable I was in the saddle even after 3-4 hours of continuous riding. The himalayan is accessible to shorter riders thanks to a low seat height of 800mm, keeping in mind the average height of Indian riders. We didn’t have panniers on our test bikes, but the mounts for them are a well-executed job, and so are the mounts for the jerry cans on both sides of the fuel tank. The led taillight does its job well while looking nice and sits under a large metal grab rail that also doubles up as a mount for a tail bag. A 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear give the side profile of the bike a likable appearance, in conjunction with the tall handlebar, though I would have liked it to be mounted about half an inch higher for better maneuverability, especially when standing up. The upswept exhaust looks nice and works well in not letting water get in, as I discovered while crossing a rivulet. Functional, well-executed design on the whole. Perhaps the section most bikers would be interested in knowing about, even more than the bike’s abilities. The good news is, the all-new, air-cooled, 411cc single-cylinder engine feels very refined, even close to its 6,500rpm, and has a torquey feel to it. With a relatively healthy 32nm on offer, that isn’t surprising. It is the first re-motor to employ oil cooling. But what I and a lot of other journos on the ride felt was that the engine could have been tuned for some more performance. 24.8ps of power is slightly underwhelming for a motorcycle like the himalayan. A candid chat with siddhartha lal, md and ceo of eicher motors, who also rode with us, justified the output though – the primary target audience for the bike is someone upgrading from say, a 150cc bike. The idea was to keep the power output such that even relatively inexperienced riders can harness all of it, apart from ensuring fuel efficiency figures are good enough for someone to want to buy the himalayan as his daily ride as well.
So, it's a great choice for bikers. Go for it!!!!

The Himalayan is easily the most anticipated motorcycle from Royal Enfield given its positioning as an adventure touring motorcycle. The Himalayan does make a lot of sense in that regard and Royal Enfield The brand needs no introduction to anyone who rides a motorcycle in the country Great, all should go for this bike. It looks good body is not bulky like other bikes. It is easy to ride on all roads it's really comfortable for long-distance rides and for daily commuters. It has great mileage on roads low maintenance and is less noisy.

Hey,I am writing this review after driving 1000 km on it. I thought so much before buying because this is never a instant hit bike but i am always crushed about this to own. Yes, finally i made up my mind and ready to risk 2l and i did it. Now my beast took away the risk for life on road. A very well balanced motor cycle to ride and you will just love it. However point to note that, do a test ride and take if you are not more than 5.8 height.I am sure this review will help you to clear some clouds and get over from the situation that i had faced 2 months ago.Eye turner Balanced Performance Pride while riding it Confident, Joy-able.

  • Best royal Enfield

    Gert De Vilder

I bought a new Himalayan September 2018 and I covered meanwhile 47300 km on it, all on European roads and most km's where run on motorways. Characteristics for the Himalayan are its comfortable riding position, excellent suspension, robustness, long stroke engine and relative good economy. The latter because of cumulative average mileage of 35 km/l over 47000 km and modest costs of service and maintenance. Covering 1000km on a single day is few effort on a Himalayan. It is great fun to keep up with my friends driving much faster bikes as ducati monster, bmw gs1200, bmw r-nine-t, moto guzzi breva and yamaha tdm 900 on curvy and twisty roads as long as there are no long straight sections in it.This is the benefit of the best suspension in royal Enfield line-up and the rev-happy engine that has reasonable low torque and excellent mid range torque. What went wrong or might be improved? Broken chain at km 27000 Switch gear/ starting relays problem starting @ km 30000, just recently solved under guarantee. It is however easy to bypass the switch with a cable from the live wire to the external terminal of the start motor. With that cable you can always start. Rapid wear of the motor-side sprocket (@ 16000 km it is nearly worn, despite frequent re-lubes). I think that it would make sense to frequently turn this sprocket E.G. Every 2000 km to get a gradual wear with the pulse wise loads of the single. Alternatively a 2nd front sprocket at hand could balance chain and sprocket life better. Difficulty is to get the m20 nut of the sprocket loose with hand tools. The Honda sprocket fixation with to parallel bolts is much more convenient. Rising fuel consumption for the last 3000 km. For this I suspect the brakes, especially the sliders of the calipers. Would I recommend it. yes, for sure, basically it is a rock solid motorbike and good value for money.

  • To buy or not to buy

    Mahesh Yadav

Greats:Ride: i haven't owned a himalayan but I've ridden it through straights, twisties, rocks, gravel, sand, and rivers. The bike's suspension is its biggest strength and it gives the rider the confidence to speed up where everyone else is braking. The bike glides over bad roads and rumble strips like they don't exist. And that's with zero rider inputs. Going over speed breakers or rumble strips on my navi or impulse requires me to get the speed right and time my jump perfectly. On the himalayan, it's effortless. Just watch a few youtube videos of riding off-road and the bike will reward you every time you use a trick to get past an obstacle.Straight line performance & wind blast:Even on straights, the bike is stable and capable of cruising at 110km/h all day long. The stock windscreen did a great job of keeping the wind blast away from my torso despite my 6-2 frame. Just a little bit of tucking made it easier for me to slice through the wind. I'd not say the same thing about the africa twin, which, for some reason, created turbulence around my helmet. So i'd not worry much about more power. I think it's adequate.Engine heat:The engine is bigger than most commuters but still cool enough for daily commutes. During my goa ride, the weather toasted me but i had no reason to point a finger at the engine.Access to royal enfield rides calendar:This is a big plus in my books. A bike is no good if you don't show it some new terrains every now and then. Re is the only brand in India that has an in-house rides team and the rides themselves aren't that expensive either. I'd not be surprised to hear that re is losing a few bucks on every group ride. If you own an re and don't go on their rides, then you're missing out on a lot.Hates:Weight:I hate its weight. I dropped it a few times and every time i did, i wondered if i will be able to lift it up again or not. I'd not like to go on an adventure alone on a himalayan. I can do that on my navi and impulse.Service costs:Sure it's 85% of a high-end adv at 15% of the cost. Yes, the service network is wide and parts are made in India so they're relatively cheap. But it's still expensive enough for a honda and hero bike owner to scare him away. The steel braided brake line? rs. 3000. That's without labour. I asked the store guy to recheck and exclude the brake reservoir from the price tag and i was shocked to hear that it wasn't included in the first place. And i'd have to brace myself for frequent shocks cause it's going to need those parts more often than either of my bikes does.To buy or not to buy:I'd not buy it. I prefer lightweight bikes that offer higher power to weight ratio and are easy to manage on solo adventures. Crf 250 l is my favourite. However, i'm waiting for the xpulse.

Buying experience is very good. Riding experience is superb........
Look is very nice and performance is like rocket.....
Servicing and maintenance is very low about other bike.
The Himalayan continues to be very smooth and refined at most points, and it's only near the 7,500-odd rpm redline that you'll feel some vibrations. The motor cruises beautifully at 80kph, and 100kph is quite relaxed as well. The bike will surge up to 120kph if you keep it pinned, but anything above that is a struggle one.

Excellent bike with excellent seating comfort and perfect riding postures. Mileage is good. Heating issues is more reduced compared to its bs4 model. Display is excellent consisting of a compass, fuel meter. Fuel meter is not so accurate, sometimes it shows false reading. Tyres are excellent and reliable.
