Got mileage of

51 kmpl

At first, i had an idea of buying a r15, as it is good in performance. Basically, i love faired bikes. When i come to know that it gives a back & wrist pain when we ride the bike more than 30km & it is very hard for Indian ladies to sit in pillion seat as they mostly wear saree. Hence i decided to buy a commuter bike with good mileage, comfort, handling and with good looks, which should be a faired bike at a reasonable price. At the end, suzuki's gixxer sf satisfied all my requirements. Hence i took delivery of the gixxer sf motogp edition on november 6 (writing this review on november 17[11 days experience]). I didn't even completed my first service, i completed 350 km in my bike. I just love this bike, it is good in handling while riding in traffic in cities, for me it is giving a mileage of 45km in city. A guy whom i known too owns the bs4 model of this bike. He said that it will give a mileage of 50 to 55 km on cities & 60+ kms on highway after first service. Even though it just have a air filter, it never gives much heat as it has a jet cooling technology. By the way, braking is awesome. It has just a single channel abs, i think its enough for a 155cc bike. Motogp colour of this bike is eye-catchy one. While i ride the bike on the street or city or my college, everyone at least give a look or stare at my bike for few seconds. This bike is a fun to ride bike, if you ride without pillion mostly. Pillion seat comfort is good, we can adjust. This bike gives a comfortable seating position. The seat is nor aggressive neither up straight, it give little bit leaning straight position, which is really comfortable. It has 9 led in front, but it has only halogen indicates. Can easily a reach a top speed of 128 & 133 if you hardly rev it. The instrumental console has all the needy features like gear indicator, trip meter, clock, fuel indicator, speedometer, rpm indicator, etc. You can set your warning limit for rpm. The smooth sound of the bike is like riding a car. In cars you won't hear much sound of the engine, the sound will be smooth to hear. This bike is also rides smooth & also smooth while riding in sudden grooves on road. The mirror of the bike is wide, there are more chances of breaking your mirror on traffics, but still you can fold your mirrors in non-needy places. The tyres never skid even in rainy days. I just have 11 days experience but this is rainy season here. You can solidly cruise at 90 to 100kmph. There are very minimal vibrations until 120kmph. No other bike has this much little vibrations under 1.5 lakh segment. The on-road price of this bike is 149k, which is little expensive for this bike. But i bought this bike for 144k in a offer. They should have given a big visor, when we cross 100kmph, we may feel a heavy amount of air pushing us backward, but you can change the visor with after market parts available on online. If you need a more good look, you can add the winglet of r15 in the front of the bike. Totally it is excellent bike. You will never regret after buying it. Always wear riding gears & have a safe ride, cheers!

I would suggest that instead of buying this, it is better to buy a bike which has fewer plastic parts because it looks good but when you go to get it repaired, then an outside mechanic will not be able to do any work in it. That's why my experience with this bike is not that good Instead, buy a bike that has minimum plastic parts like a Yamaha

High risk of falling in love with this bike. The red one is like fire. Mileage is good (32 to 40 kmpl). The best part of the same is comfort. You may ride with three but comfort comes in a single one. In the same line, you may go wherever you want, but wear a helmet and maintain the safety rules. Don't be a Chapri.

  • Comfortable for long rides

Some say the Gixxer SF is comfortable for long rides and has good ergonomics. However, others say the seat may be firm for long rides and the rear seat is not very spacious
The Gixxer SF has a 155cc fuel-injected engine that provides quick acceleration and responsive power. It has a top speed of about 130 km/h.

    Pro's
Looks wise it is the best one
    Beating is very smooth
    Youthful Bike and very stylish
The seating position and Handling are awesome
    Mileage is coming around 50
    Con's
Performance is not up to mark as its Torque and RPM are a bit low (it affects pickup) compared to other bikes which are available around the 150cc range.
After 70km speed felt hard even after 5400km was completed. which I don't like and gears are struck when you suddenly stop in traffic and at U-turns. It was a very bad experience I never had such a problem with other bikes
Disk pumping(double disk) in high-speed control not working properly breaking the road
if you are above 5.10'' in height you will feel Knee and shoulder pain(it's my personal experience I am 6.0'')
Also observed some display issues in the speedo meter. each point contains 2 ltr oil but sometimes it's suddenly going down. informed a mechanic he is saying that it is a controlled system so it's behaving like that.
last but not least Bikewale please highlight this point we are not finding skilled mechanics for BS6 model bikes even in the authorised service centre they are not doing proper service as they are not properly trained. they are also scared if they do something and it may be affected somewhere because of chip-based software. just doing show work is affecting bike performance. there is a lot of knowledge gap in mechanics.
if anyone wants to buy this bike do a test drive on an open road not in traffic. go 70km speed and try disk pumping(double disk to control speed)then you will find real performance. if you go 50 defiantly will definitely be smooth.

It's a 2016 model Gixxer SF carb Variant. Done 50000 km on it with only general service. Service and spare parts availability is an issue somewhere sometimes. But the bike is quite reliable so we don't feel that so much. Handling is superb. Stock Seat is not for long distances. Gets an average of 55 kmpl. The midrange is superb but lacks top end. We can cruise easily between 70-85.

It was my dream to buy a bike with sports fairing, Most of the time people go for the Yamaha R15, but trust me Gixxer SF is a better choice, it's also way cheaper than the R15. Good mileage around 45 to 55kms. Amazing look and road presence. It will give you a feel of riding a premium sports bike for sure. I am fully satisfied with the bike. I don't have any complaints. But they discontinued the red color and that was disappointing. Red looks way more attractive for sure. But I own a black one and it's also such a Beauty. One small complaint I have is that its gear is a little hard.

Gixxer SF is the best sports tourer in its segment! The engine is refined and the ergonomics is extremely comfortable, great for long rides! It has a sufficient ground clearance of 165mm and ample torque to tackle city conditions! On the highway, it doesn't feel lazy at all; considering the 13.6 PS of power output. And above all, it gives me a mileage of 45kmpl in the city and around 49/50 kmpl on the highway; which is satisfactory for a 155cc motor.
Completed 40k+ km on my Gixxer sf in 2 years; still ride it every day with the same enthusiasm as day 1!
There are no major heating issues that I've felt, this is an air-cooled motor; so expect a little heat in traffic, especially in summer. The gear is a bit hard, but not bothersome to affect the ride quality.
The only drawback, I would consider is the after-sales service. It's not terrible, however not satisfactory either. Suzuki needs to work on it. Apart from that, it's a fun-to-ride machine with good built quality!
Consider this motorcycle, if you are into sports bikes in the sub 200cc segment!

You may ride with three but comfort comes in a single one. In the same line, you may go wherever you want, but wear a helmet and maintain the safety rules. Don't be a Chapri.

  • Comfortable for long rides

    Sunil Mali

    Rahul Raghu

I would suggest that instead of buying this, it is better to buy a bike which has fewer plastic parts because it looks good but when you go to get it repaired, then an outside mechanic will not be able to do any work in it. That's why my experience with this bike is not that good Instead, buy a bike that has minimum plastic parts like a Yamaha
