Hero MotoCorp has launched the 2023 Xtreme 160R 4V in India, and this TVS Apache RTR 160 4V-rivalling roadster-segment motorcycle gets several updates over the two-valve version. For starters, the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is available in three variants – standard, Connected, and Pro.
The mechanical specifications on all variants include a 163cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine with a four-valve setup. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, this motor makes 16.6bhp and 14.4Nm, which is 1.6bhp and 0.4Nm more than the two-valve model. Notably, the new engine on the Xtreme 160R 4V uses a bigger bore and a shorter stroke than the two-valve motor.
Meanwhile, the styling retains the overall silhouette from the previous version. However, the four-valve version gets a few tweaks in the form of a revised position for the headlamp that sits slightly lower than the two-valve variant, an updated fuel tank design, and a new belly pan. Then, the Pro variant further benefits from a two-piece seat as standard.
The feature list on this motorcycle includes full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster that houses a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level readout, and a clock. Then, there is a Bluetooth module on the Connected variant that offers access to SMS and call notifications. This connectivity suite 2.0 uses an e-sim and works with a smartphone application to send out accident-related alerts, the location of the vehicle, turn-by-turn navigation, locate a dealer, book a service, or call roadside assistance. Notably, the base and the Pro trims miss this feature. However, the latter gets basic Bluetooth connectivity that displays call alerts and also receives split seats and upside-down front forks.
The hardware on the base and Connected variants retain the conventional telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock to handle the shock absorption duties. The Pro variant, on the other hand, gets the new upside-down front forks that enhance the muscular looks of this motorcycle. Meanwhile, the anchoring hardware is identical across the range, and the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V uses disc brakes on both wheels and a single-channel ABS.
The list of rivals includes the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, and the Yamaha FZ-S among others.

The look of the bike is quite impressive. Overall functionality is also good.My experience with the Hero Xtreme 160R has been nothing short of exhilarating. From its sleek design to its impressive performance, this bike has exceeded my expectations in numerous ways.First and foremost, the Xtreme 160R's design immediately caught my eye. Its aggressive styling, sharp lines, and bold graphics give it a sporty and modern look that sets it apart from other bikes in its segment. The LED lighting system not only enhances its aesthetics but also provides excellent visibility on the road, especially during nighttime rides. When it comes to performance, the Xtreme 160R truly shines. The 160cc engine delivers ample power and torque, allowing for quick acceleration and effortless overtaking on city streets and highways alike. The engine is smooth and responsive, making every ride a thrilling experience. Additionally, the five-speed gearbox offers precise shifts, further enhancing the bike's performance and rideability. One aspect of the Xtreme 160R that I particularly appreciate is its nimble handling.

The initial pickup of the bike is amazing, long run of almost 500 KM, and it goes smoothly without stopping. India’s Best 160cc Sporty Commuter bike and trust of Hero, my previous bike was the Hero Passion Xpro 110CC which is awesome. This is fast and sporty and looks good like the Pulsar NS 200 but the hero engine is long-lasting. Other bikes cause problems in their engines after the 32000 KMPL run, but the hero makes better machines.
