The Xtreme 160R is Hero’s newest entrant in the 150-160cc sporty commuter segment in India. The motorcycle is a replacement to the now-discontinued Xtreme Sports which failed to tug at the heartstrings of many buyers in the country during its existence.
The motorcycle sports a sharp styling that incorporates a radical-looking headlamp, beefy fuel tank and an upswept and sporty-looking tail section. On the design front, it is based on the Xtreme 1.R concept which Hero had showcased at the EICMA 2019 in Milan.
The feature list of the Xtreme 160R comprises of full-LED lighting for the headlamp, turn signals and tail lamp. It also gets hazard switch along with a side-stand engine cut-off switch. Additionally, it comes equipped with a fully-digital display and is available in two variants that differ in terms of braking hardware. Meanwhile, the motorcycle rides on 37mm telescopic forks upfront sourced from Showa and a monoshock at the rear.
Powering the Xtreme 160R is a 160cc, air-cooled engine that produces 15bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm. Lending it an impressive power-to-weight ratio is its kerb weight which is as low as 138.5kg. Hero claims that the bike does the zero-60kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds.
Hero is offering the Xtreme 160R in three colour options- red, white and blue. The company has also introduced a new fancier-looking limited edition red-white colour scheme of the bike which commemorates the brand’s achievement of crossing the 100 million cumulative production milestone. In terms of competition, the motorcycle takes on the Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ S V3 and Bajaj Pulsar NS160 in India.
Moreover, Hero MotoCorp has announced the launch of the Stealth Edition of the motorcycle. This new edition, as the name suggests, gets an all-black theme along with highlights of red that are visible on the headlight mask and the alloy wheels. The Stealth Edition also benefits from additional features such as an integrated USB charger, five-level LCD brightness adjustment function, and a gear indicator.

A balanced bike
Sudip Roy
I have been using this bike for the last 1 year and in my true opinion, it is a very balanced bike. You will get good power, styling, features, comfort. The most amazing thing about this bike is that it delivers amazing power at the same time it maintains a good milage, which is rare. Talking about cons, pillion comfort, and tank cap is compromised. But with the new edition, you can attach an extra grab rail which enhances its look and pillion comfort to some extent.

1. Buying this bike was very smooth and within an hour I rode the bike out of the showroom.2. I have done 2000km on this by far and riding this bike feels so comfortable. I have ridden this for 200km at once and no back pain, no uncomfortable feeling. Just love riding this machine.3. Looks ? performance ? beyond what i expected, i'm in love with my bike. People as on the road that "it's hero bike, hero made this". And performance is also outstanding. 45kmpl-50kmpl easily in city and highway both.4. I have given this machine only one servicing and by far it was a good experience.5. Pros :- excellent mileage, amazing design, riding posture very comfortable.Cons :- gear shifting is not very smooth, wind blast on highway is very much and it literally shakes when truck or heavy vehicles passes by.

Tips for other riders
For maintaining you don't need any tips. Just take it to the centre and they'll do everything. You don't have to worry about it. And service costed me 482 for my 1st servicing so it is very affordable.

Be a xtreme rider

There is no better way to describe the 160cc motorcycle space in India than by calling it a segment that can get your pulse racing without being too hard on your wallet. Motorcycles in this space walk the fine line between being performance-oriented and frugal, penny-wise commuters. Hero gave us a taste of its all-new entrant to this segment, the xtreme 160r back in February and we’ve finally got the chance to spend some time with it in city, out on the highway and on some winding roads. Here’s what we think.

Amazing and satisfactory commuter machine.

1. Buying was very smooth, if you have all the required doc then you can ride it out within an hour.2. I have done 7500km and also done a few trips, it was very easy & comfortable. No back pain.3. Looks 10/10, 45-48kmpl easy I get.4. Pros - catchy looks, good seating posture, excellent in class, very good mileage.Cons - driving on the highway or expressway will shake the bike (which can be dangerous), sometimes gear gets stuck or makes a loud noise while shifting. The pillion seat is compromised a little bit.
