The 2024 Suzuki Hayabusa has been flagged for possible issues with the ABS module. According to the Suzuki Motor Corporation, there could be instances where brake fluid could leak from the ABS module due to an improperly tightened ABS hydraulic unit flare nut.
The company discovered the issue during a routine quality inspection during which they found a line worker had not been following the specified process to tighten the flare nut. Instead of using the mandated multi-wrench process, the worker was using a single wrench to tighten the nuts. This meant insufficient torquing of the nuts and hence the leak.
It goes without saying that the brake fluid leak will lead to insufficient braking which isn’t ideal on a motorcycle that’ll sprint to 300kmph without breaking a sweat.
Suzuki says the fix is rather simple. Dealers will contact owners and tighten the nuts to the specified torque at the authorised service centres. This will be done free of charge.
At present the recall has been issued in the USA, however, since the Hayabusas are made in Japan and exported, there is potential that the units sold in India may also be suspect to the issue. We shall update the story as soon as we get a word from Suzuki India.
