Honda is reportedly working on a neo-retro scrambler-styled motorcycle for the European market, patents of which have been filed with the European patent office. As we had reported in August 2019, Honda had launched a same motorcycle in China with the name ‘CBF190TR’. Apparently, the Japanese bike maker is now planning to launch it in the European markets as well.
The motorcycle is based on the Honda CB Hornet 160R which is sold in India. It incorporates the same single downtube chassis and alloy wheels while the engine also looks identical to the Hornet. However, the CBF190TR available in China is powered by a larger 184cc motor, as opposed to the 162cc mill seen on the Hornet. Honda will most likely introduce the larger displacement version of the engine for the European markets.
In terms of styling, the motorcycle looks inspired by Honda’s Neo-Sports Café design theme. It features LED headlamps housed in a circular aluminum-finished bezel along with an off-set single pod instrument cluster on top. The handlebar is a raised, single-piece unit which is accompanied by circular mirrors. Beyond that, the muscular fuel tank blends with a petite tail section which houses LED lamps.
Now, will Honda launch this neo-retro scrambler in India? We think it is quite uncertain as the bike maker had earlier revealed its intentions to focus on the higher displacement segment (300cc and above) for India.
