Hero MotoCorp has launched the most affordable variant of the HF Deluxe that is called the HF 100. It is priced at Rs 49,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and that makes it the cheapest offering in the bike maker’s portfolio. Interestingly, Hero has added the motorcycle on its official website without making any official announcement about it.
Being a bare basic commuter offering, the Hero HF 100 competes against the Bajaj CT 100 which’s still the cheapest bike in India with a starting price of Rs 44,890 (kick start). In fact, Bajaj recently made its commuter portfolio more interesting by launching the cool-looking CT110X. You can read all about it here.
With an aim to keep the costs as low as possible, Hero has bestowed the HF 100 with basic equipment like a kick starter and drum brakes. While it retains the same styling as the HF Deluxe, there are certain differences. The HF 100 is available only in the black colour option, as opposed to multiple paint schemes available for the Deluxe version. Even the alloy wheels, exhaust shield and handlebar are draped in black paint. It also gets a skinnier black grab rail, as against the larger aluminium-finished unit in the HF Deluxe.
What has remained is the 97.2cc, air-cooled engine that makes 7.91bhp of power and 8.05Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a four-speed gearbox. Moreover, the telescopic forks, dual shock absorbers, 130mm drum brakes and 18-inch wheels are all identical to the more premium Deluxe version. Even the dimensions have remained unchanged.
