What is it?
The Renegade Commando is another cruiser from UM, which has been launched at Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike was launched at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo, however, this motorcycle stands out from its other two siblings – the Renegade Classic and the Renegade Sport S.
While the overall silhouette of the Renegade Commando resembles the Renegade Classic, the matte green and grey paint schemes gives the bike a military feel. The big star on the fuel tank is associated with American military and it does look pretty good on it. The motorcycles comes with wide handlebar, forward-set footpegs and well cushioned seat to take care of the touring needs. The suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic suspension at the front and spearing rear setup at the rear.
The Renegade Commando is powered by a 279cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine. This engine produces 25bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 21.8Nm at 7000rpm. This mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive.
India relevance?
While there is no real competition to the UM Renegade Commando as it has got a different genre to the cruiser segment, we can say at it might take away few sales from some of the Royal Enfield models.
Launch plans?
UM is currently in the process of setting up dealerships and plans to have 50 showrooms by the end of this year. The bookings for the bike has already begun, but the official deliveries will start only in the next couple of weeks.
