The KTM Duke and its sibling the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS have made a big impact in the Indian bike market since they were launched earlier this year as they introduced fun biking at an affordable price. Now, a report on zigwheels.com suggests the KTM Duke 390 (keeping with the Austrian manufacturers naming policy) will be launched next month during the EICMA (Milan Motor Show).
The overall design of the 390 is expected to remain the same as it younger sibling the 200. It will most likely share a lot of common parts but we expect the frame and swingarm to get bigger and longer to accomodate the increased torque and power. The suspension components will also be beefed up and the wheelbase increased to cope with the bigger engine.
The new bike will be powered by a 375cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that is rumoured to produces 45bhp. It weighs just 150 kilos giving the bike a power-to-weight ratio of 300bhp per tonne! And a top speed of around 200kmph. The transmission will most likely be a six-speed box.
The bike that will be sold in India will be manufactured locally at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. We can expect it to come here after its global launch. Here is the best part, the report suggest the bike will priced in the range of Rs 2.0 to Rs 2.5 lakh, a great value proposition for a vehicle so powerful.
