- Hero teases Euro 5-compliant Hunk 200R and Ignitor 125
- Both are rebadged versions of the Xtreme 200R and Glamour 125
- Expect BS-VI models of both bikes to be launched in India soon
Hero MotoCorp has teased the Euro 5-compliant iterations of the Hunk 200R and the Ignitor 125 for the international markets. Both bikes are the rebadged versions of the Xtreme 200R and the Glamour 125 sold in India. The teaser has appeared just before the EICMA show signifying that the motorcycles will be unveiled at the event tomorrow, 5 November.
In order to make the motorcycle Euro 5-compliant, Hero has employed fuel-injection for the Hunk 200R. The teaser also shows that a tweaked exhaust setup along with a three-way catalytic converter has been used on the updated model. On the contrary, the Xtreme 200R sold in India is powered by a carbureted motor which produces 18.6bhp and 17.1Nm. While the existing carb variant of the Hunk also produces similar amount of power, the inclusion of fuel injection might result in a change in power figures.
As for the Ignitor 125, the motorcycle will continue to be powered by a carbureted engine, as opposed to the FI motor of the Glamour in India. This could be due to the inclusion of i3S start-stop technology which, if coupled with a fuel-injected motor, results in an expensive and complex setup. Powered by a 124.7cc, fuel-injected motor, the India-spec Glamour Fi produces 11.5bhp, which is slightly lesser than the Ignitor 125 carb model.
Given the fact that the Euro 5 norms are closely similar to BS-VI regulations, we expect the BS-VI-compliant iterations of the Xtreme 200R and Glamour to be introduced in India soon after EICMA.
